Based on the description of deliverables and the purpose of the project, the results of the project are expected to contribute to:
a) The production of new knowledge in modern value-added computing systems
b) The creation of new jobs for specialized scientists, both during and after the project
c) The competitiveness of the project partner companies
(d) Cooperation between universities and the private sector
e) The development of cultural tourism through the creation of new value chains.
More specifically, exploiting and managing the cultural tourism model presents significant challenges in terms of both attractiveness and competitiveness. These trends dictate the study of new business models and the search for new innovative industries (eg creation of new types of electronic travel guides, design of multidimensional web and mobile applications, etc.) that will redefine the use of cultural content (re- use) and will redirect the cultural product to wider audiences and mass consumption. The results of TRACCE can be divided into two categories, outputs related to the cultural applications and services of information and communication technology produced, and the general contribution to some situations or sectors as a consequence of the former.
The key outcome is the development of the web platform and hybrid mobile browsing application, as well as the components that will integrate such
(a) information organization, data interconnection and knowledge management in the fields of Culture and Tourism;
(b) the collection, semantic analysis and utilization of online data;
(c) creating synthetic storytelling;
(d) the creation of augmented reality walks at visual and auditory level.
Through this product the user will be able to follow routes that have been tried by previous browsers, access relevant content from major Cultural Organizations, contrast contemporary reality with that data, submit their personal experience or comment. In addition, culture and creativity are particularly important in a contemporary design that sets the conditions for local economic and business development. Tapping into the potential of the cultural / creative industries locally significantly enhances, among other things, the tourism economy and the provision of innovative high value-added services.
In this context, the TRACCE project contributes to inclusive development by promoting intercultural dialogue with full respect for the cultural specificity of both our country and the countries where old and new travelers – travelers from Greece come from. It is expected to significantly enhance the modern digital tourism model which must meet a wide range of requirements as:
(a) enriches the tourism product while pursuing high quality and authenticity;
(b) create narrative interpretative forms in which to combine the available cultural resources and highlight their historical weight, thereby enhancing and supporting the possibility of automated design of specialized products with a scientific background;
(c) organize the resources available locally and regionally;
(d) directly connects travelers in real and virtual time;
(e) adapts to the needs of tourist demand (customized visits and guided tours); (f) provides the potential to design and implement dynamic marketing.
